As recounted in
Chicken Soup for the Soul, the motivational speaker and self-described adventurer John Goddard wrote a list of 127 life goals when he was 15. While sitting at his kitchen table in Los Angeles he wrote the three words "My Life List" at the top of a yellow pad. Under that heading, he wrote down 127 goals of things to experience or to achieve in his lifetime. They were not simple or easy goals. The goals included climbing the world's major mountains, piloting the world's fastest aircraft, running a mile in five minutes, milking a poisonous snake, reading the entire Encyclopedia Britannica, reading the entire Bible, teaching a college course, becoming an Eagle scout, composing music, playing
Clair de Lune on the piano, and lighting a match with a .22 rifle. He's logged an impressive list of records while overcoming many hazards (e.g., bitten by a rattlesnake, charged by an elephant, trapped in quicksand, airplane crash, caugh in earthquakes, almost drowned twice while running rapids). He's already accomplished over 100 items from his list. What's left? visiting the moon, appearing in a Tarzan movie, and becoming a ham radio operator to name just three. You can read John Goddard's entire
life list online.
