Been there done that, checked off my list. a couple of tips. 1- You will probable go with a tour, on your food menu select Vegetarian, Pasta and Fruit, otherwise that chicken you started with at trail head 3 days later will be... we had a few people in our group get food sickness. 2- bring Diamox,for altitude sickness, 18 in our group, 6 made it to the top. 3-Figure out how to keep your water from freezing, from Kibo Hut to the top, 5* below 0, it's very important you will be hiking straight up and it will take 7-8 hours to go 2.5 miles, you have to drink or get dehydrated. A lot in our group had their water bottles freeze, carried on the outside.4- Don't drink the Killamanjaro BEER. 5- Headlamp, get one with external battery pack, 1-2 ft. cord, and insulate it. Batteries did fast in very cold weather. 6- Have a good time, Rock
